Sékou Koné Injury Forces Abandonment of Man Utd U21 Match Against Tamworth

Manchester United's Under-21 National League Cup match against Tamworth was called off prematurely following a concerning injury to midfielder Sékou Koné. The incident occurred during the Group A clash at the Lamb Ground on Wednesday evening.

Koné sustained the injury after an accidental head collision while defending a corner. Medical personnel attended to the 19-year-old Mali youth international on the field for approximately quarter of an hour. Despite the half-time break being signaled, Koné was eventually stretchered off the pitch while wearing a face mask.

Subsequently, it was confirmed that the game was abandoned with the scoreline remaining at 0-0. Reports indicated that a delay in securing a replacement ambulance was a contributing factor to the abandonment.

Manchester United released a statement providing an update on Koné's condition: "We can confirm Sékou is conscious, stable and communicating with United's medical team. He has been transported to a local hospital for further evaluation as a precautionary measure."

Tamworth also addressed the situation via their official X account, stating: "Due to the medical situation, we are forced to abandon tonight's fixture; further details will be provided in due course. We extend our best wishes for safe travels to all Manchester United fans, staff, and players. In particular, we wish Sékou Koné a swift and full recovery."
